Photos The Swedish Masters 2009 was the largest and the last. The crew of people helping out was small but very efficient. Actually the basic service was fully ran by Bev with help from Julia from Bonn in Germnay living with us for the year, and Shaan, our daughter and Australian competitor. On top of that our neighbours lent us their houses and guesthouses to make room available for the visitors to stay over at the cost of a gift. Another neighbour visited us on Friday evening and cooked for the 70 people who needed something to eat. The cooking gear broke a few fuses and the practice sessions went black everytime it turned on. However, the food was good and the company excellent. April played along with us this year and provided beutiful weather. Let us wish for something similar in Copenhagen next year. ----- Bev, Julia and Shaan smiling along.
So does Bill Bugenis from Brooklyn, New York
Brian Saunders, one of those that visited all Swedish Masters events, wonders what is going on
It looks like Dan Gustafsson knows soemthing we don't
People were queing to take part. Rolf Ax is blocking the way for Atte, Pavel, Harri and Simon, to make sure to keep his lead in the tech que. On the track it later became somewhat different
Lars is checking all 61 cars. It took about 40 minutes even though several had to try more than once. Pontus Sandberg is actually helping out even if it looks like he is mainly admiring the cars
They nearly filled the whole straight
After 8 semi finals a main was decided. 3 Czechs, 4 Swedes and 1 Brit
Antonin Vojtik, Jaroslav Recek, Anders Gustafson, Jirka Karlik, Dan Gustafsson, Christer Helgesson, Brian Saunders and Michael Landrud
Despite a lot of Swedes and despite being alone, Brian Saunders won ahead of Jarda Recek and Tonka Vojtik.
Two Horky chassis and one Saunders. The main had seven Horkies but with a BSP in top
These are the guys
Dinnertime
Bev filled up
Then after dinner it was time for some more preparations heading up for the ES24 race
The Danish Sjaelland team of Steen Michaelsen, Erik Noltenmejer and Per Sondergaard were all happy. Keith Gibson and Mike Read from the UK enjoyed a drink. Bosse Åkesson from Malmö enjoyed the company
As always a large group of drivers froim Åtvidaberg showed. Uffe Karlsson doing service work for his kids Carolin and Christoffer
and Johan Thorsson doing work for his son Viktor. It seems as if some hours have been used looking at the bags under is eyes
These are some of the young ones. Simon Gustavsson, Jacob Friberg from Åtvidaberg and Eric Signal from Gothenburg are all sitting down. Ylva is not counted among the really young ones despite looking as she should. Standing is an oldie Ove Halvarsson, with the youngie Danne Ax, and the vegetarian Timmy Fagerlund. We guess that this is the only race where the restroom door has worked as noticeboard. Timmy was guarding the results .....
The Danes are not only relaxing and smiling, but actually doing quite some work too
The former lap record holder Mikael Gustavsson struggled with his tire truer
not far away was Anders Gustafson well prepared, making two mains and a top three position during the weekend. He is still smiling
So is James Cleave from the UK. He had a good race holding the new laptime record in ES24
Harri Nykänen and Justus Pohjasniemi from Finland had something to discuss and Kari Sinisaari, the ISRA secretary, were eager to get his cars ready, because
he already knew that he was going to get very tired later
The Latvians are as always relaxed
and Ugis Viksne and Janis Rage-Ragis are trying to convince Janne Ekman that he absolutely should take part in their celebrations of ......
These two guys travelled far. Roger Schmitt from Chicago and Bill Bugenis from New York
Most of us wanted to lay down and sleep when it was time for ES24. 53 cars were checked in
and the Czechs were still working
Lars Noerkjear from Denmark pits a car in a lane change. Peteris Taurins from Latvia is keeping an eye on his doings
Petr Krcil doing the same thing
Janne Ekman is trying to find the right lane sticker. Why are there so many? Mia Ekman knows
Opposite roles? While Ove Halvarsson, closest, can be at a race without being heard, that is close to impossible with Michel Lorin
Torgny Nordgren was 100 % succesful in his attempt to make an even race finisihing 15th in both classes
Pigge Elfström is trying to find a good spot for a lane sticker
Pontus had the ugliest hat during the event
Timmy Fagerlund and Andy Wasserman did not understand the joke
while Mikael Svensson is showing the new eyeglass fashion which quickly
spread to the British quarters where Ben Woodward wonders what actually happened to his father Graham
and a race without Michael Landrud pulling his pants, up or down, is a race missing something
and he is dreaming away for the next Persico Cup
And finally, here are the two who ran the show
Take care! Lars and Andy |
